This course focuses on the set of tasks and techniques a business analyst uses to work as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies, and operations of an organization, and to recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.

Fundamentals of Business Analysis is specifically designed to give people new to the business analyst role or those who supervise business analysts a basic understanding of the functions and business impact of this role. The course provides a special focus on business analysis functions as they relate to the development of technology solutions that meet specific business needs.

Our Fundamentals of Business Analysis course is suited to Business Analysts recently placed in the role or to Business Analysts who have been performing the role for some time but have never received any formal training.

It is suitable as an introduction for anyone thinking about moving into the Business Analysis role or for other change management professionals wanting to gain a more in-depth understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Business Analyst.

The course is also suitable for experienced business analysts as it:

  • Provides a reinforcement session for those Business Analysts who have been doing the job for many years but have never received formal training

Requirements for ECBA / CCBA / CBAP Exams

Requirements for ECBA exam:

  • No previous Business Analysis work experience required
  • 21 hours of professional development in the last 4 years
  • Agreement with the ECBA™ Code of Conduct.

Requirements for CCBA exam:

  • Requires a minimum of 3,750 hours of work experience in the last 7 years
  • Of this: a minimum of 900 hours in each of 2 of the 6 BABOK® Guide Version 3Knowledge Areas or a minimum of 500 hours in each of 4 of the 6 BABOK® Guide Version 3 Knowledge Areas
  • Minimum of 21 hours of Professional Development in the last 4 years
  • Two references from a career manager, client or Certified Business Analysis Professional™(CBAP®) recipient
  • Agreement with the CCBA® Code of Conduct

Requirements for CBAP exam:

  • Requires a minimum of 7,500 hours of work experience in the last 10 years
  • Of this: a minimum of 900 hours in each of 4 of the 6 BABOK® Guide Version 3Knowledge Areas
  • Minimum of 35 hours of professional development in the last 4 years
  • Two references from a career manager, client or Certified Business Analysis Professional™(CBAP®) recipient
  • Agreement with the CBAP® Code of Conduct
